The 7th European Forum on Food Quality, organised in Siena by the Fondazione Qualivita in collaboration with oriGIn, oriGIn Europa, Origin Italia, oriGIn France, Origen España and Qualifica-oriGIn Portugal, hosted the participation of European Commissioner for Agriculture Christophe Hansen and the Ministers of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida for Italy, Annie Genevard for France and Luis Planas for Spain.

During the event, Commissioner Hansen announced the launch, starting from 2027, of a specific European Action Plan for agri-food and wine PDO and PGI products and spirit drinks with GIs, defined as one of the strategic tools for strengthening the various territories of rural Europe.

The joint participation of European institutions, national governments and the main international organisations of Consortia for the protection of GIs confirms the central role of Geographical Indications as a lever for economic development, territorial cohesion and protection of Europe’s agri-food cultural heritage.
