Viaggio nei sapori d’Italia – the experiential communication of typical Italian products

DESCRIPTION

“Viaggio nei sapori d’Italia (Journey through the flavours of Italy) – special Qualivita-Valtur weeks” is a project aimed at teaching adults about Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) products and Protected Geographical Indications (PGI) as part of the recreational activities offered in holiday village packages. In the summer of 2012, the leading travel agency Valtur and the Qualivita Foundation proposed an innovative project for discovering areas through the flavours of regional PDO PGI TSG products. The project involved international clients holidaying in Valtur holiday villages in different Italian regions: Sicily, Apulia, Sardinia, Trentino-Alto Adige.

OBJECTIVES

  • Offer those staying in a holiday village the possibility to grasp a few theoretical and practical concepts, through food and wine, to help them learn more about the area around the Villages and Clubs.
  • Support protection Consortia in promoting their products.
  • Valorise regional products through guided tastings.

TARGET AUDIENCES

  • International adult consumers
  • Holidaymakers in Italian holiday villages

ACTIVITIES

  • Organisation of theoretical and practical presentations
  • Distribution of material specially designed to facilitate the tastings
  • Contact with Consortia and local producers invited to talk about their products
  • Coordination of the delivery of products and organising tastings

RESULTS

Promotion of PDO PGI TSG agri-food and wine production in Italy, aimed at the international clientele of Valtur holiday villages.
A new promotion formula that is effective because it takes place within the context of a holiday.

FEDERDOC l’Istituto Salumi Italiani Tutelati nasce nel 1999 per svolgere azioni di coordinamento strategico e operativo tra i Consorzi di tutela della salumeria italiana, per la cura degli interessi relativi al comparto. Svolge inoltre la vigilanza collettiva per le contraffazioni di salumi DOP e IGP.
